Parco paesaggistico Topla

The Topla valley was declared a natural monument in 1966. This was mainly due to the picturesque landscape under the mountain Peca (where the cave of the legendary king Matjaž is located) and its rich ethnological heritage. There are five farms in the area that have preserved the authentic way of living. The valley is also a reminder of the mining history, even though the mine is today no longer active and is open only for tourists. The landscape provides shelter to many species of flora and fauna and presents an unique alpine paradise.
