Žiče Carthusian Monastery

One of the largest Carthusian settlements was built in the 12th century near Slovenske Konjice. It was closed down in 1782, during Joseph's reforms. Nowadays visitors can explore the ruins of the monastery and marvel at its defence wall which has been restored. The monastery was also famous for running the oldest pharmacy in Slovenia.
