Postojna Cave
The cave is the most famous and the most frequently visited karst cave. The cave has the longest cave system in Slovenia. It has an electrical lighting system and a railway system by which visitors enter the caves. Despite the fact that this marvellous site was known to people already in the 13th century, it was opened for visitors in the 19th century. It is also famous for the so called “human fish” (Proteus anguinus) and karstic phenomena such as dripstones.
