Pivka and Črna Jama Caves
A few kilometres north of Postojna, visitors can find the entrance to the Pivka cave. The entrance itself is interesting, as the steps lead the visitors 60 m deep into the pothole. The Pivka cave is connected to the Črna jama cave (Black Cave) with an artificial passage. This cave was most likely named after the soot which penetrated through the ceiling and gave the cave its distinctive black colour.
