Gašper's Chestnut Tree in the Sopota Valley

The Gašper's chestnut tree is the thickest known chestnut tree in Slovenia. It is located in the wild and picturesque Sopota valley above Radeče. The valley was created by the river which carved its riverbed on the tectonic edge. The tree is about 15 m high and over 3 m thick. The interesting Ostrovrhar's castle is located in the vicinity.
