Žužemberg Castle
The settlement and the castle gained their names after the old German word 'sousen', which means 'to rustle, to roar'- after the roaring of the river Krka. The beginnings of the castle go back to the 13th century, but it was not until the 16th century that it was turned into a fort with seven defence towers. The castle was bomb during World War 2, but was later on renovated. The castle hosts cultural events in the summer.
