The museum holds exhibitions in three different locations - the centre of Novo mesto, in the house called Jakčev dom and at Baza 20 (Base 20) in the Kočevski rog forest. The museum in Novo mesto consists of five buildings housing the collections from the fields of archaeology, ethnology and recent history. The house Jakčev dom includes the Božidar Jakac art collection. Baza 20 presents a World War 2 camp site and a partisan hiding place.
