The capital of Slovenia belongs among the group of medium-big European cities. It is a political and cultural centre of Slovenia. The old town centre is one of the best representatives of the Baroque period in the Middle Europe. The settlement, called Emona, existed on this spot already during the time of the Roman Empire.
